The State of the Art Art Gallery 28, 6th st Parkhurst had a bustling opening night this week. Artists and art lovers from all walks of life came along to view the high quality artwork. Good art, great folks and a touch of violin music made this night special!
A glitzy red carpet affair was laid out for the launch of The Voice 2016. There was a mood of palpable excitement in the air as media snapped away at artists enjoying the red carpet treatment! On arrivals guests and VIPs were treated to an electric violin performance by Kristel Birkholtz in The Bubble.
Playing violin under this old oak tree was quite a special occasion. The company that worked on the property enjoyed the shade of this stately tree for over 20 years. Many functions, lunches and casual smoke-breaks were had under this tree. On this, their final day at the office, it was fitting to have one last lunch under the tree, complete with a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree and an electric violin performance.
This Mansion party was not a staid or stiff affair! Upon entering the elegant Munro Hotel, guests were given a five star reception. But around the corner awaited a fun surprise, on the patio were rubber ducks, snooker tables and even mermaids! How did I fit into the scene, well I was the elphin-shell-princess violinist on the shore of course.
An exciting day spent on set filming 2 scenes for an upcoming slot on the popular “Binnelanders” soapie.
I can’t give away any of the plot, but suffice to say I am playing violin in 2 scenes. The slot should air in December so keep watching!
Whilst music and violin playing may be traditionally seen as a creative pursuit, I was certainly outnumbered by technology creators who competed in the Cyber Junkyard Competition. The ingenuity was astounding and perhaps I played second fiddle to these creatives!

Despite the chilly evening on Friday 31 July many Volvo enthusiasts, young and old, braved the cold to be among the first to see the new XC90. There were a range of Classic and Sport model Volvo’s on display from private collectors as well.
My brief was to create drama and suspense with violin music before the great reveal, which went down with much excitement. I couldn’t even get a photo with the new car the crowd was so thick around it!
Beauty and the Beat, a violin/beatbox collaboration, performed at a Mediatech After Party. As the evening was an 80’s themed party, we included some 80’s classics such as Billy Jean by Michael Jackson. The talented Justin Chalice added his vocals to the mix.
